HS Thompson Elementary School is a new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) school in Dallas, Texas designed by KAI and built by Ratcliff Constructors, LP & Primestar Construction.
The school welcomed students in January 2022 providing “...a diverse and caring environment with highly qualified teachers and STEAM curriculum that promotes productive citizenship and high student achievement.” The $30M, two-story, 73,000 square foot building sits on a 5.7-acre site and features 23 core classrooms for Kindergarten-5, 7 science classrooms, 2 special education classrooms, maker space, exterior play areas, stage storage, equipment room, and multipurpose room.
The library sits above the main entry in a double height volume with views of downtown and Fair Park. The gym and cafetorium, with its raised stage and sound reducing moveable partitions, are placed where students and educators can use them by day while the community can use them during after school hours.
