Hamilton County Coroner's Office and Crime Laboratory , located in Blue Ash, Ohio , is a new state-of-the-art forensic facility that replaces an outdated, overcrowded lab. The new design features laboratories for histology, toxicology, serology / DNA, controlled substances, firearms, trace evidence, toxicology and latent prints. A secured evidence receiving, processing and storage area has been added, and an on-site firing range supports ballistic analysis. In addition to modernized office, conferencing, collaboration and training spaces, the design showcases newly established sustainability goals of the County. The new Coroner and Crime Laboratory propels Hamilton County to the forefront of forensic medicine and provides capacity for service growth for the next 30 years throughout southwest Ohio. KZF Design partnered with forensic lab expert SmithGroup , serving as Architect of Record, to provide project management, architectural services, mechanical/electrical, civil and structural engineering for the design of the facility which was built by Monarch Construction Company .
